NovaThreads are needles that are pre-loaded with a PDO thread. The PDO thread remains under the skin. During the 4 to 6 months needed to fully absorb the PDO suture, your skin is also repairing itself around it! The NovaThreads procedure requires no downtime. Depending on the area treated, most patients are able to return to work and social activities immediately. In some cases, patients may choose to take the afternoon off, or have their NovaThreads procedure before the weekend, so that any swelling or bruising can resolve.
 
The most common side effects from NovaThreads include tenderness, bruising, minor swelling, and pinpoint bleeding. You may experience rippling of the skin at the corner of your brow, don't worry this usually resolves in 1 to 2 weeks.  Should avoid hi-impact exercises such as running and weight lifting for 1 to 2 weeks. Also, avoid extreme heat such as in saunas and heated yoga classes for two weeks.
As these sutures are naturally absorbed by the body, NovaThreads hold little chance for serious complications or scarring to occur. Infection, suture migrating, puckering, or visible threads are rare. Patients should stop taking any blood-thinning medications (Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Aleve) for several days prior to their NovaThreads procedure. NovaThreads are both reversible and removable.
